Ashoura-Shiite Muslim immigrants from Pakistan who live and work in Greece celebrate the deth of imam hussein

Shiite Muslim immigrants from Pakistan who live and work in Greece whip themselves with sharp blades during a ceremony to mark Ashoura, the tenth day of the Muharram religious festival, in the port city of Piraeus near Athens. Shiite Muslims around the world observe ten days of mourning during Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar, to commemorate the death of Imam Hussein, grandson of Prophet Mohammed. Imam Hussein was beheaded in Karbala, Iraq in 680 AD in a battle over the line of succession to the Prophet Mohammed
